Boise Cotillion 🌺  Tropical Dreams- Latin Dance Event  🌴

Thursday, March 5th 

Location:  TRICA Building 1406 W Eastman St. Boise, Idaho

Get ready for a night filled with rhythm, color, culture, and connection! Our next Boise Cotillion event, Latin Tropical Dreams, is going to transport us to a vibrant tropical celebration right in the heart of downtown Boise.

💃🏻 What We’ll Be Learning

This month, students will learn:

    • The basics of Salsa dancing 

    • Dance to the joyful rhythm of Merengue

    • Move with the smooth style of Bachata

    • Continue practicing proper greetings and introductions

    • Explore meaningful conversations about kindness and how we can show respect and care to others

Cotillion is about more than dance — it’s about confidence, character, and connection.


🌴 Dress Theme: Latin Tropical Elegance

Students may wear traditional formal Cotillion attire or join in the tropical flair!

🌺 Ladies

  • Formal Cotillion dress wear OR

  • Floral prints- Sundresses

  • Ruffles or tiered skirts

  • Bright, flowery dresses

  • Tropical skirts with a cute top

  •    Palm prints or bright colors
  •    Please wear white gloves

Accessories welcome!

  • Flowers in hair

  • Bangles & beaded necklaces

    Sunglasses

  • Sandals or flats

Think festive, elegant, and colorful!


😎 Gentleman

  • Formal Cotillion attire OR

  • Guayabera shirt (classic short-sleeve embroidered Latin shirt)

  • Light button-down shirts (tropical or floral prints welcome!)

  • Khakis (pants or dress shorts)

Accessories welcome!

  • Straw hats or fedoras

  • Sunglasses

  • Loafers, sandals, or clean sneakers

Fun, polished, and tropical-inspired is perfect!


We cannot wait to see the students light up the dance floor with energy, confidence, and kindness. It’s going to be a beautiful evening of culture, music, and growth.

🕔 Event Times

4th–6th Grade: 5:45–7:00 PM (arrive 5:35–5:40)

7th–9th Grade: 7:25–8:40 PM (arrive 7:15–7:20)

Please feel free to arrive 10 min early to experience our new location and meet our staff other parents!

Pick-up is about 5 minutes after the dance ends.

Carpools are encouraged!


Arrival & Pickup 

The Main entrace of TRICA is the corner of Eastman & 14th and will be lit up so you will know where to enter! We will be close to Hydy Park so you may have to park and walk your child to the door. Please do not have your child walk alone. 

Pick up will be directly in front of TRICA on Eastman so please do not park and walk away from your vehicle. We will have staff there 10 min before & after the event to help direct your children. 

If you’d like to arrive early with your child to see our new space, you may do so by arriving 10 minutes early but please don't park in the drop off & pick up zone. It will be marked with cones. 


Evening Overview

  • Chaperones greet students curbside.

  • Members enter, get nametags, and line up for introductions.

  • Directors lead formal greetings, the Grand March, and dance instruction.

  • Refreshments, games, and social etiquette practice follow.

  • The evening closes with a fun group dance and party favors.

  • Members thank directors and chaperones before exiting.

🎩 Etiquette Reminders

  1. Listen carefully to instructions.

  2. Walk in the ballroom.

  3. Sit only when directed (ladies knees together, gentlemen feet flat).

  4. Always show respect to everyone.

  5. Thank the directors and chaperones when leaving.

 Attire Guidelines

Ladies: Conservative dresses (No strapless, midriff, or short styles). Short white gloves required. Comfortable dress shoes — no athletic shoes or high heels. 

Gentlemen: Suit or blazer with khakis, shirt, and tie. Dress shoes only.

**For the February,  dress code may be formal cotillion wear or add some red or pink to be festive! 


Absences

If your child must miss a dance, please email boisecotillion@gmail.com so we can keep the lead/follow ratio balanced.


Drop-off Tips 

Parents are welcome to walk children to the entrance. You are welcome to observe future dances by signing up to volunteer as a chaperone!
